Crash Data

This one has a minimal stack but some (potentially useful) user comments. I am
finding the signature in N610, M094 and Trunk builds as well. All of the Trunk
builds are Win2000 crashes. M094 has 5 incidents on NT4 and the remaining crash
(WinXP?) was N610.

   5 Windows NT 4.0 build 1381
  45 Windows NT 5.0 build 2195
   1 Windows NT 5.1 build 2600

Trunk incidents on theses builds:
   1 2001092114
   1 2001092409
   1 2001092509
   2 2001092809

if this can get debugged and fixed quicky it still might have a chance to make
the n6.2 train.
hm...our exception handling should have caught this crash on Windows unless
maybe it's in another thread....

I am consistently crashing on this page while it partially loads up and some
sound plays in the bkgrnd.

if you don't crash on the first try, try hitting RELOAD once(let page load),
twice(let page load)..and you should be able to repro then..
The upper frame of the page from the latest shrirang comment is causing a
problem -- http://www.pixel-industries.com/spacer_top/tunes/tunes_45.html .

Stack trace shows only QT call.
Today's M095 comments have a few more clues to help reproduce this one:

(36971534) Comments: was in a game of Half Life when the quick launch of
mozilla died upon exit of HL. It didnt have any open windows. Most probably a
memory error because upon open of the HL exe it hard allocates ram and steals
it from whatever is using it thus causing many problems with persistant stuff
like Moz quicklaunch

Summary: N610 M094 Trunk access violation crash [@QuickTime.qts] → M095 Trunk access violation crash [@ QuickTime.qts]
I think the crash is inside another thread in Quicktime and maybe memory is
getting currupted. I can't seem to narrow down to a simple testcase that always
fails but the main one always does. Reloading this simple url cause the crash
sometimes:

Talkback shows this stack signature as far back as Nav 4.07. I think this is a
problem inside Quicktime that newer releases of Quicktime may fix. I wonder if
Apple is aware of this crash of if there is something we can do or relnote.

As Peter mentioned, this might be a problem with Quicktime itself...and if we
can't fix this from our end...maybe we can get the evangalism team to talk to
Apple directly. I really don't know what the solution is...but we definitely
need to address this somehow...it's been a major crash with almost ever release
we have ever had (both milestones and netscape releases).

Nothing much we can do from our side other than telling users to use the latest
version of quicktime. Not our problem..eh ? Should this bug be just closed?
Yeah, since there isn't much we can do...marking this one worksforme.

User Comments	system was unattended. FF was up for a couple days. FF has been totally stable. FF was at approx 300meg virtual the last time I looked 12 hours ago - perhaps it shot up beyond what the system could handle? currently, keyboard is totally unresponsive. Note: I don't recall quicktime being open.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5, QuickTime 7.0.3, Windows XP SP2, 1GB of RAM

I can reproduce this 100% by following three steps:

1)visiting this link:
(WARNING: 1) it will crash Firefox & 2) the file is 11.3MB)

http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?blobcol=urldata&blobheadername1=Content-Type&blobheadername2=Content-Disposition&blobheadervalue1=image%2Ftiff&blobheadervalue2=inline%3B+filename%3Dwrt54gx.tif&blobkey=id&blobtable=MungoBlobs&blobwhere=1119927802595&ssbinary=true

it is a tiff image (wrt54gx.tif)

2) click OK on the dialog box that pops up saying:

"QuickTime Plug-in 7.0.3

The plug-in performed an illegal operation. You are strongly advised to restart Firefox.

[] Don't show this message again during this session

[OK]"

3) resize the browser (or pop-up windows, depending on how you got to that page)

I got to that page from the product description page of the Linksys WRT54GX router (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?childpagename=US%2FLayout&packedargs=c%3DL_Product_C2%26cid%3D1115416825933&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper) by clicking on the "Product Image (high res)" link at the bottom right hand side of the page.

Neither Opera 8.02 or IE6 crash.

See TB12961938K & TB12962030Y

The stack was the same for both & was quite short and mostly unhelpful:

everything I said in comment #19 stands, using Quick Time 7.0.4

see TB13973739Z
I've a similar bug, but it concern a m4a movie, played with quicktime on the apple.com site

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328204
I have the same problem here aswell.

I have the new quicktime and firefox says a plugin caused an illegal operation. If i click the back button the quicktime file will reload and then work but once its finished playing firefox crashes.
i can't reproduce comment #19 with Firefox 2.0.0.1 (build 2006120418) and Quicktime
7.0.4.

But the bug 328204 has a reproducible way to crash Quicktime 7.0.4 and Firefix 2.0 and Gran Paradiso alpha 2 with an illegal operation in plugin ...

As this bug is very old and was originally created for Netscape 6.2 i set this one as duplicate of bug 328204

Is this bug being worked on?

It crashes firefox for me on a daily basis.
1. it's resolved as a duplicate
2. it's a crash in apple code, and we're not apple
