(Should be send to Packaging, but I can't find it).
What I was thinking today is that I'd love to build some XUL applications, but I
don't want people to have to install a complete Mozilla. I could use some type
of embedding widget and embed Gecko in a window, but I don't know how to program
in C very well. What I do know how to do is program in XUL / JS / CSS, like a
lot of web builders.
I think Mozilla should release some sort of build which only contains a very
simple window. People could then write their own applications in XUL and
release them as regular applications, launching them like ./mozilla -chrome
chrome://mysampleapp/content/mysampleapp.xul
If someone can make this build, I volunteer to write a tutorial for people on
how to get an application up and running.

Is this a Build Config issue?
yes it is. Granrose, don't we already provide such a skeleton build somewhere?

We already have "embed" builds available on the ftp site and there's a separate
effort that's working on an embedding SDK. Surely, one of those would cover
this case. Marking invalid.

mike potter pointed out that this overlaps with the XRE project I'm trying to
get going.

see http://www.mozilla.org/projects/xul/xre.html

feel free to re-assign to me if you agree.

or, scc, ping me directly if you are interested in XRE.

how about both... I'll re-assign to you, and find out how best to cooperate with
you and XRE at the same time?
