For reference... Using 2001103003 Win32 Nightly.  Messages being read in IMAP
and in the browser

Ctrl+C will copy to the clipboard but right-click "Copy" will not.

using 2001.10.30.11 bits on linux this is what i see:

1. in the message pane of the mailnews 3pane window, i highlighted some text
["Keywords"] and selected Copy from the context menu.
2. attempted to Paste [context menu] into either the mail search widget, or the
browser window's urlbar. both failed.
3. in a browser window, highlight some text and select Copy from context menu
["owner and QA"].
4. using context menu again, Paste in either the mail search widget or the
browser urlbar. both succeed.

something buggy with how Copy is implemented in mailnews context menus?

Highlighting and Right Click->Copy in the URL bar works.   Right click Copy
between form elements seems to work as well.
It seems to only happen in MailNews in the viewer pane...

Right click pulls up no context menu in new mail composer...

thomas: yeah, no context menus for the mail compose window [old bugs], alas...

olga, the orginal problem reported here is still a bug --it's that Copy doesn't
work from the message pane of the mailnews window.

i was just remarking that thomas' last comment is a separate issue already
reported in bug 98608.

The problem still presents.
In the Mail&Newsgroup 3 pane window: 
- select any text from Message body,
- right mouse click, get context menus,
- select Copy.
- Ctrl+E to get edited copy of the message and try to Paste what was copied.
The text appears is not what was just selected - I got text that I had on
clipboard from another Copy.
PS: bug 108084 had dif. problem - Paste does not work in Composer.

Do you mean context menu in Mail/News Editor fails to copy selected text?
yup, and its partial to implementation, vs not totally working.
the fix for bug 107925 otta fix this.. and other copy/paste context menu bugs.

Looks good to me on Win 2k using build 2001122003.

May be you were in another pane? I checked again on Win 2k using build 2001122003.
Comment 12 is still valid. After clicking on Copy from context menu, try to
paste anywhere. I get something what on my clipboard before, not what was
selected and Copied from context menu. Generally this is the issue: Context
menu:Copy doesn't work from the message pane in 3-pane mail window.
In summary I change from: MailNews/Editor to: 3-pane/Message pane.

following olga's steps in comment 12, this is still a problem for me.
I believe the original summary it was changed to a mail/news editor from just
message pane to use it to fix both those context menus, and I believe to drop
the # of duplicates.
nominating nsbeta1, mozilla1.0 as this appears as I would say part of the
fundamental groundwork for mozilla 1.0

Are we still seeing this? OS specific? Wfm on 2002022203, Win98/2K (actually, it
works fine for quite a few days). I can copy (using context menu) from message
window in 3 pane view to any compose window and Windows Notepad.
I see it is fixed for context menu 'copy' for text & copy link address for links
in the message pane.  so confirming fixed in w2k, build 2002-2-22-03.  Mac/linux
needs confirming.
Olga, I can say in regards to your testcase comment #12, I get that to work fine
as well.
Yes, it is fixed. I would like to change status to Verified but first it should
be changed to Fixed by a developer.  :-)
Yes the context menu is fixed now.  However, there are 2 'new-lines' appended to
the copied text.
Refering to comment 36, the newlines only get appended if the message is plain text.

Copying from a bugzilla generated email (viewed in Mozilla) and pasting into
another application (e.g. notepad) will add new lines... 

This caused some interesting events while copying and pasting into a terminal...

This bug as filed is fixed. Pls verify. 

The issue noted at the end of the bug is a different bug. Pls file another bug,
but we believe it is a dupe.
