From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:0.9.8+) Gecko/20020202
BuildID: 2002020208

For the past few builds, I have noticed that the back and foward buttons and
contextual menu items do not work. That is, when you go to another web page by
any means possible (clicking links, typing an address, etc.) the back and
forward buttons can not be selected, as if this is the very first page I have
opened.

Uninstalling the browser and reinstalling it does not help. However,
uninstalling the nightly builds and reinstalling the latest milestone (0.9.7)
release DOES fix this problem.

I am using Windows NT, SP 6.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start browser
2. Load another page by clicking on a link or typing in an address
3. The Back button does not become active.

Actual Results: Back button does not work

Expected Results: I should be able to click the back button to go back to a
previous page.
Does this behavior happen if you execute these steps after you create a new profile?
No, creating a new profile does not help. The back and forward buttons still do
not work.
I decided to try some variations on the theme suggested, and I tried creating
another new profile... it still didn't work.

I then used the Profile manager to convert a (very!) old Netscape profile. That
seems to have fixed the problem, at least for this particular profile. If this
does NOT fix the problem with my other (main) profile as well, I will respond
again in a few minutes. Otherwise, all is now well.

Still an odd problem, though. :)
OK, I have confirmed that not only does my mail profile still NOT work, but all
new profiles I create also do not work. However, the one converted profile from
the older version of Netscape DOES work as I mentioned earlier.

Is new profile creation based on your defaul profile in any way? Perhaps this
would explain the continued problems with new profiles.
I think it is possible to create a new profile that just uses your old files,
which would explain what you're seeing.
You might also try flushing your cache.
