When URL contains alias from windows hosts file, this alias is transmitted
unlike IE as is

Reporter, are you seeing a "access-blocked" popup ? If so, it's a dupe of bug
28586 (see bug 149978 and bug 70084 why).
Reporter: Are you saying that mozilla is not checking against your hosts file
prior to trying to resolve them via DNS, but it is doing this in IE?
In the hosts file there is a line: 192.168.5.5 	 lnx
192.168.5.0 - My local network
When I start Mozilla.exe http://lnx:82/cgi/my.cgi
I receive DNS error
Name Error: The domain name does not exist.
when I start IEXPLORE.EXE http://lnx:82/cgi/my.cgi, all is Ok!
Is "Name Error: The domain name does not exist" the exact text of the error message?

Yes, but my DNS sends messages in Russian exept off error description:
Name Error: The domain name does not exist.

The same as with IE.

Works for me: Edited: "c:\windows\hosts"

Added a host name, and then was able to use it to connect.

Can you put your entire hosts file into an attachment?
Was the host you added a local host (i.e. on the same subnet) or a remote host?
192.168.5.0/255.255.255.0 - my lokal net
192.168.5.5 - box with firewall with other NIC 10.10.15.24
Below is My \windows\hosts file

I added a bug this morning: bug #195823

I think it may be a dupe of this bug. I _DID_ do a search for "hosts" first, 
but I swear to god that this bug did not come up in the search results, 
otherwise I would have not created a new bug.

Anyway, if you check out that bug, I have left much more verbose testing 
information in there.

The duped bug is mostly Mac OS problems with the same description, but likely a
different root cause.
