In the Preferences window, in the "Scripts & Plugins" section,
there is an option to disable allowing scripts to hide the status
bar.

Unfortunately, there are no options to disable hiding the other items
that scripts frequently hide:
- the location bar
- the menu bar
- whatever bar it is that has "Home", "Bookmarks", and the personal toolbar
  buttons

You can do it now by going to about:config and typing dom.disable_window_open in
the filter field. That will give you a list of preferences that you can set to
"true" to block sites from disabling the various UI elements
