Jan, I should be getting cvs access to gila on mozilla.org very soon (applied for access last week), so will be able to help out with these docs. See bug #195192.
Great! I appreciate your help, you know I'm not a native English speaker, it will be better to write the page by someone native. I will provide you all necessary details, just ask.
Maybe Ian would like to contribute too?
Jan, Brian, if you need any assistance with this, I would love to help out! Just let me know.
Owen, we could certainly use your help. The first thing you can do is read Jan's recent presentation, to give you an idea of what the component is all about: http://eu.mozdev.org/Brussels2003/talks/jan/index.html

Hehe, this is nowhere near ready... but this is my first attempt. This is also based upon my basic understanding of the component. To Do: (*) Be sure I actually understand what is going on ;) (*) Add more features (*) Build QA tests Can anyone else think of something I should add?
Oh, are my build instructions correct? Can someone clarify this?

This is the acceptance testcase for SQL support. NOTE: All the expected results after step 8 were _not_ tested! As soon as I can get Linux up and running, I can check to see what should _really_ happen. The "expected results" are my best guesses ;) Jan, is the SQL server at egentili.net1.nerim.net going to be permanant, or should I look for a suitable replacement?
Yes, the build instructions are correct (sorry for not responding sooner). Anyway, I should prebuild some xpis, put them somewhere and link from the project page. Owen, can we publish what we have ?

Checking in mozilla-org/html/projects/sql/index.html; /cvsroot/mozilla-org/html/projects/sql/index.html,v <-- index.html new revision: 1.2; previous revision: 1.1 done Draft (minus the unfinished stuff!) QA page to come _very_ soon
Owen, thanks for updating that page, I created the sql directiory and checked in an initial version early today, then I had to go. Hope it helped you since I couldn't use the doctor tool directly to create a new directory.
I also changed the main project page. I'd like to simplify the terminology here. It's my fault that I started using different names the project: - database support - native database support - sql module - SQL: Native Database Support (bugzilla component) We should come with something clear and simple. Any ideas ?
I already simplified the terminology on the pages and the component is now called "SQL". Marking fixed.

Jan, Owen, the page is good, but seems a little sparse. I'd suggest creating new page(s) based on the tutotial given in Brussels: http://eu.mozdev.org/Brussels2003/talks/jan/index.html It is useful because it lists implementation, has code examples and screenshots, and shows in more detail how to get the test app up and running.
Yeah, I'm all for that. A more detailed tutorial linked from the main page would be nice.
Reopening to add stuff. (I am _really_ alive, I swear ;-))
