filing in mailnews, but may be a general tree bug.

In Mailnews, hitting shift+down marks the messages just fine, but does not
scroll down when reaching the last displayed message. instead, it selects not
currently shown messages.

conversely, hitting shift+up scrolls those messages into view.
note that shift+page down _does_ scroll
