The geniuses in the paranoia department won the war over making useragents useless As a result mozilla/5 has not sent a os major/minor version for several releases. For people concerned with versions, SunOS and Solaris sort of are different. from our perspective Solaris probably means Solaris 2.x+ (aka SunOS 5.x+) and SunOS means SunOS 4.x. All the hits I'm getting at my web site's host are from SunOS sun4u, and from the helpful table at: http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/solaris/versions/ we can see that sun4u does not support SunOS 4. This means that I can map SunOS sun4u to Solaris and make some of our categorization stuff work.

timeless: You may want to map "sun4us", too (those machines are rarely used as Mozilla platforms but who knows... :) ...

Comment on attachment 150988 [details] [diff] [review] map sun4u to Solaris timeless: so it would make sense to regexp it as .*sun4u.* in the light of the previous comment?

Comment on attachment 150988 [details] [diff] [review] map sun4u to Solaris Anyway, this is good and the proposed solution might not be suitable/might go to another bug. r=vladd but it's ok if you want to repatch.

Roland: the regexp catches that as well (sun4u.* matches sun4us).
I was thinking if we have cases where sun4u appears without the Solaris
identifier (so matching sun4u alone could be a good idea), but that's kinda risky.

OK, I am blind... sorry... > I was thinking if we have cases where sun4u appears without the Solaris > identifier (so matching sun4u alone could be a good idea), but that's kinda > risky. IMHO it's unlikely that someone uses that string outside Solaris... same applies to sun4m, sun4d, etc. ...
matching w/o sunos would be another bug and i'd require proof. sun4u could happen on linux or netbsd so i'm not going to just generically map it.
