User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/125.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/125.8

Apart from the fact that the Eudora mailbox crashes, the mailboxes it does manage to import before
crashing are often missing the last few emails. It's like it's not reading the last block or processing the
last buffer segment.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Import a bunch of Eudora mailboxes
2. Check them vs. the original mailboxes
3. Note deviations
Actual Results:
Did not import some emails; always the last emails in the mailbox

Expected Results:
Import all the emails, or if there is a reason why it can't, it should not silently fail.
Ironically, this mail folder contains a some emails that were causing a prior
version of Eudora to crash when it tried to get them from the mailserver! I
put them together to help the Eudora developers fix the bug, hopefully they
will help you fix yours.
strange, I cannot repro this: I've got a POP acct configured in Eudora (for OS
X, v6.1.1), with 4 msgs in the inbox, and 2 msgs in the outbox. tbird's import
for mail worked, and I got the 4 inbox/2 outbox messages.

trebor, is your acct on Eudora IMAP or POP?
okay, now I can repro this using Eudora configured with an IMAP account. I've
got 9 msgs in Inbox, 2 in Outbox, and only the 2 msgs in Outbox were imported.

on second thought, what I see in Eudora are three "folders": one called In
(which is empty), one called Inbox (which has 9 messages) and another called Out
(which has 2 messages). on the IMAP server, my inbox is called Inbox, so perhaps
I didn't set Eudora up properly.

My account is POP, but this should be irrelevant AFAICT. We are talking about importing an existing
Eudora mailbox into Thunderbird, not fetching mail from a remote server.

The problem does not occur with all mailboxes, just some. And it seems to be somewhat random:

For example:

1) when importing my full eudora mailbox, which had the EmailOfDoom folder in a subfolder (Misc) (eg:
Eudora Folder:Mail Folder:Misc:EmailOfDoom), TBird crashes while importing a later mailbox, but the
EmailOfDoom folder is imported with the last mail missing.

2) When importing just the Misc subfolder, I again get the crash (so it's a mailbox inside Misc that is
messing TBird up, but that's another bug), and again the last mail is missing.

3) Creating a new Eudora Folder:Mail Folder:Misc: folder with only EmailOfDoom mailbox in it and
attempting to import works fine, import completes without crash, and all the emails are present.

Hypothesis: Import function isn't closing files/flushing everything to disc before moving on to the next
mailbox. Then when the crash happens, mailboxes are left in an inconsistant state which presents
itself as missing emails.

Suggestion: Thunderbird should commit changes to disc on import after each mailbox is imported, and
if possible after each email is imported (yeah, it'll slow things down, but also make it a hell of a lot
easier to track down the "deadly killer email that nukes import" type of bug, since you'll know it's the
one after the last one that actually got saved.
got a talkback ID for the crash?
the crash sounds like the one in bug 228550 comment 7.
Forgive my ignorance; no idea what a talkback ID is, and a quick search on the site didn't bring up any
clues.

The crashing bug is:
