seen using 2004092905-0.8 tbird bits on fedora core 2. when I tried to send my yum.conf file attached to a mail message, thunderbird crashed. it seems any .conf file would do this --I created foo.conf (a text file) and it still crashed. 1. open a mail compose window (fwiw, I'm using plaintext compose and am sending from an IMAP account to another IMAP account). 2. enter To: addressee, a brief Subject: and a little bit of text in the compose area. 3. attach a .conf file. (click Attach button, pick file from file picker). 4. click Send. expected: message should be sent. actual results: message not send, then tbird crashes. no js console output or talkback, but see the following in the shell: INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Could not get the JVM manager System error?:: Success

not sure if this would be related to bug 255900 (since tbird linux builds are gtk2 builds). at first I though it might be due to the permissions set on the text file I send, not its filename, whether it's 664 (crash) or 644 (no crash) --but no, that doesn't seem to make a difference. anyhow, will attach a sample file to test with. also nominating --Trix or Marcia, are you able to repro this?

hrm, couldn't quite find an existing bug for this. Scott, do you mean bug 141826? the odd thing is that I'm attaching a plain text file...

attach this file to a mail message and attempt to send it. interestingly, if I rename it to something like foo-conf.txt, then attach it as such, tbird sends it w/o crashing.

oh, after reading the trail of dups, perhaps it is. would this then be dependent on a fix for bug 153930?

methinks the root of the problem is bug 141826 --so dupping. the question is, how feasible would it be to fix 141826 before tbird1.0? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 141826 ***
