When using x-remote over ssh, the round trip time to the x-server is somewhat
high (I've seen it get to about .8ms per round trip).  We can cut down on some
round trips by consolidating XInternAtom calls, which does help markedly on my
tests.

I obviously meant .8s (800ms)
