Firefox cant open filename containing spaces no matter if I use quotes or escape spaces by \ .

Reproducible: Always
You have to escape a Space with %20
Which is a painful workaround when you have 100 chars long files with 10 spaces in it.
That is no workaround, it's the way to go because Firefox is no filemanager and can only access files through the file:// protocol handler which only accepts valid URLs and you have to escape spaces in URLs.
The point is not whether its workaround or not; the point is that use filenames
with spaces are PITA with firefox. Your advice of simply changing spaces to %20
does not work.

/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/mozilla-xremote-client: Error: Failed to send command: 500 command not parseable

it seems that firefox needs also file:// and the_whole_path. Normal files dont
need it.
