Now also tested with TB 60.6.1:
1. removed chat account password
2. removed StartupMaster extension
3. restarted Thunderbird

There are no more double password prompts. And there's no need to reset any password files as described in comment #20. So I'm pretty certain the chat account password is the culprit.
