Oh, I see. Sorry, I misunderstood. FWIW, it wasn't me who locked this bug. But you're not missing anything there, and you don't even want to read the 167 comments there. Frankly, I want my life time back that I spent in that bug! The long and short of it is that Office365 is extremely configurable by admins in many different ways, and there is no way for us to know whether a certain email account will work with IMAP or IMAP + OAuth2 MFA or only with Exchange protocols, so before we're suggesting IMAP as configuration, we're testing whether it actually works. The result is the patch which was backed out in https://hg.mozilla.org/comm-central/rev/62453d8cdbb7 That's why I was so upset that this was backed out. The bug here fixes the MFA case, but none of the others, so now we're suggesting a non-working config for users who cannot use IMAP.
