I've had another idea if we want to be able to have a single field but eliminate the confusion.

Field 'Is Regression', with possible values:
- Yes, range known
- Yes, range needed
- Yes, range not needed
- No
- ---

(These are the same values proposed in comment 23, just with a different field name and options wording to make them clear-cut).
