Only the status for Firefox 96 was set to wontfix because the first release candiate of Firefox 96 was already built. Since there is no patch attached to this Bugzilla ticket and nothing landed in Firefox Nightly yet, it's simply not possible that something will change with the release of Firefox 96. This status change doesn't say anything about a future change, it just reflects the reality - it's too late for Firefox 96.
