My email set that I'm testing with has about 60 messages of size 10G to 22G and I still don't see a problem and have many more with smaller attachments or no attachments (total 85291 msgs).
Also, my Trash folder has about 1.3Gbytes.
Not sure why Trash would be special or cause problems since it's really just another folder and not really anything unique. But I'll keep it in mind.
Might be good to disable indexing for Trash if you don't care to search messages there (if you've switched global indexing back on).
