Omg, it can be fixed with  `sudo apt purge *nvidia*` and a Firefox restart. No reboot required.

My theory was that I might not directly using Mesa and the Nvidia driver might be forwarding everything to Mesa. Or it does that only for GLX, but passed EGL to llvmpipe or something like that.
