I have tried to [suggest a patch](https://sourceforge.net/p/mingw-w64/mailman/message/37709504/) on the MinGW mailing list. I didn't find any explicit document explaining how to contribute, so I hope that was the proper way to do this. I will also now write a temporary fix for Firefox as suggested by [:tjr].
