Hi Larry, there is an existing way to disable all searching functionality in the address bar if you'd like:

1. Visit about:config
2. Set the `keyword.enabled` pref to false

Hi Larry, there is an existing way to disable all searching functionality in the address bar if you'd like:

1. Visit about:config
2. Set the `keyword.enabled` pref to false

And regarding comment 10 above, we're engaged in an ongoing product discussion about possibly special-casing search engine pages when they're configured as the custom new window URL.
