I added a see-also for bug 1896955 -- its crash-volume-spike seems to match the timeline of this bug here, and both of them are `IllegalArgumentException`, so it seems like they might have a common/similar root cause.  (Perhaps they should be duped to avoid reduntant investigations/work?)
