This will end up stalling work in several other bugs around the area for several weeks, and I would like to be able to finally start landing some of the other important bug fixes that need to be layered on top of this. There are other engineers who are blocked on this as well. Alternatively, I can choose to complicate landing the sec bug here, by landing my other non-sec works first that conflict with this patch. That means we will be forced to take up divergent versions of the patches to deal with the merge conflicts that would be created. But that seems like what we might have to do if the delay is really going to be that long.
