On the other hand, if I remove this attribute-modification...
```
    image.setAttributeNS(XLINK_NS, 'href', RED_DATA_URI);
```
(just folding the RED_DATA_URI to be the initial static value of xlink:href), then Firefox changes to match Chrome and WebKit in preserving the `xlink:href` value despite the `href` attribute being removed.

On the other hand, if I remove this attribute-modification...

(and instead just fold the RED_DATA_URI to be the initial static value of xlink:href to make the attribute's presence/absence still clear), then Firefox changes to match Chrome and WebKit in preserving the `xlink:href` value despite the `href` attribute being removed.
