just making note, last we looked into this (GVE that is), i believe fission folks were interested in GVE performance. Could be worth bringing that discussion up again. 

But a quicker solution for this bug would perhaps let Fenix be the default, and put GVE behind a flag like --gve or --geckoview-example so that it is still available.

And yes, Chrome is intentionally not part of the default selection. You have to pass the --chrome flag e.g. './mach try perf --chrome`
