I don't think there are any/many cross-browser guarantees about how select elements & buttons are supposed to render in general. (Chrome does serve as a "reference" for the attached testcases, but my included reftest exercises some scenarios where Chrome sizes buttons vs. selects differently for Unknown Reasons.)
