That list comes from the NewTab page, you can check the list on about:NewTab and customize it to your likes, or disable Top Sites and then we'll revert to the old list. It sounds like you might have pinned some pages there, and then set your new tab page to something else.

I'll keep this open to evaluate whether we want to do something when the user is not using the new tab page, and then the connection between results and it won't be evident.
