I'm so tired of people excusing bad behavior on the grounds that you need money. You are already monetized, now you are cash grabbing to overcome terrible management: https://calpaterson.com/mozilla.html

Somehow Mozilla kept running just fine for THIRTY YEARS without doing this kind of shady stuff, so that's not a very good excuse, and I don't appreciate the mask of false civility you hide behind while you abuse your users. Why don't you start mining bitcoin in my new tab window? How about just selling my browsing history? Those are all monetization right? What about installing addons without my consent that execute third-party code on my machine as part of a promotion? Oh wait, Mozilla did that last one already in 2018. 

This user-hostile behavior is why Firefox is down to 4% market share. What is your niche? It can't be "user-focused privacy-centric browser" anymore, because Brave and Vivaldi are doing it better than you without having to play these games.
