Requesting QA verification -- only required on macOS, as the files touched by the patch are Mac-specific, and not even compiled on other platforms.

We should test that (a) the rendering on Sonoma is fixed (see , and (b) that variable fonts still work as expected on earlier versions of macOS.

We should test that (a) the rendering on Sonoma is fixed (e.g. with the example from comment 0), and (b) that variable fonts still work as expected on earlier versions of macOS.
