Not sure if this is what is described here but I can define a new tag called gds0 and assign it to a message on account0 on machine0. Then on machine1 I can define the new tag gds0 and I see the tag (message summary changes to the assigned color) at the same message in account0.

If IDLE imap capability is supported, all I have to do is roll the mouse over the message on machine1 and its color changes. Otherwise, I may need to do "get messages" or click on the message for the color the change. I did this with several accounts and they all worked and at least 1, charter, didn't support IDLE.

I looked at the SELECT responses and I do see my gds0 tag/flag the \* in the flags list. "\*" is what "David :B" was telling the reporter he should see, but apparently he was not see it on some selected mailboxes.

Not sure if the reporter is still interested or even still using tb after all this time but about the only way I could possibly duplicate and debug this would be to obtain a test account into his server and have him set some tags on messages and then see if I can see them, and, if not, why not. I will set "needinfo" to the reporter.

By the way, I didn't manually put the tags into the pref.js file. I just used the normal user interface. I can see info about my tag "gds0" in the file.
