I'd like to suggest that rather than adding back in the hack to show a fake bookmark which the system app interprets to show the start page of the search app, we make the system browser an actual app icon for the search app and make the browser start page the launch URL of the search app.

This should be fixed now. We've replaced the old brower with an icon for the search app (also called Browser). If this is not showing in flatfish, then let's track that in bug 1063782.
