(Whiteboard: [badges] [icebox])

We received some good feedback about our badge email. It would be good to make the following 2 MVP adjustments:

1. Remove the link to the Hive Community Member Badge at the beginning of the email. This leads people to check the badge page first before their profiles and unnecessarily apply for a badge they already earned.

2. Make it clear that the recipient of the email *already earned the badge and does not need to apply* for it. This is particularly important to people who had the badge bulk issued to them.

In addition to that, two more advanced changes that might be great:

3. Make the email HTML and include an icon for the bagde.

4. issue 2 different emails for people who apply for the badge and for people who get it bulk issued to them.
Exact copy from user feedback:

I'd love to have rec'd an HTML email (instead of plain text) to really show the illustrative quality of the badge and badging system for visual impact.

---

It explains where to find the badge and provides info about what the badge recognizes.
clear, had explanations and next steps. Looked great

---

The email clearly states that I earned the badge. However, when going to retrieve the badge, it seems like people may easily get confused about whether they need to apply. When you click on the badge below the badge info is a place for you to apply. It leads the user to think that they may need to submit things to actually earn the badge. I think calling out that the user would see this when they click on the badge might eliminate the confusion.

---

The email has a lot of information in it! Seems like some of it could be in the ""learn more"" link

I don't understand the whole section: What's next? Spread the word about this badge to your peers in your local Hive network, or collaborators that you feel have made a contribution to Hive even if they have not been recognized through the Hive before! Our badges help us to define our community and our community will help us to define our badges.

I don't see how to issue the badge, push the badge to the open backpack, download a baked badge. I'm not sure how to spread the word.

---

I like the focus given to differentiating between personal and organizational contributions/recognition - I think that's really important.

---

Ok, I created an account and a profile page. But the badge is not on the page and I don't know how to get it on the profile. Perhaps this is because I used my personal email? Maybe I should have made my profile with my neiu. email?

---

The email was fairly clear
Oh, can we also add this form:
https://docs.google.com/a/mozillafoundation.org/forms/d/14SDuVSMRQrNYysq4rTu7srzB66ePucQ-EGxG6ChP2I8/viewform

I think it could be a generic feedback mechanism for us. Would be helpful for the MacArthur conversation.
* status?

Oh, I may have misunderstood, but based on the wording in #2 above it sounded like this was still in the copy phase. If that's not correct, let me know.

* Robert: can you paste an etherpad link here with exactly what you want the new copy to be?

Hey Matt, I think this is something best managed by Simona here on out. Feel free to reassign or ping her to see if this is still relevant.

Simona?
Flags: needinfo?(simona)
Hi all, I am a little confused on what is needed of me, are we re-doing an e-mail for everyone who has received the Hive Community Member badge?
Flags: needinfo?(simona)
Only if we need to. Simona, take a look at my original comments and make sure that those elements have either a) been addressed, or b) are no longer relevant. I've drifted too far from the issuing to be able to assess myself at this point.

Where can I see the current e-mail and if need be @ Matt I can put together an etherpad with the copy.

* Robert can you help? I'm not sure where the current copy is located.

Me neither. Erik do you know where the current Hive badges email copy lives?
Flags: needinfo?(robert) → needinfo?(erik)
Unfortunately there isn't a great way of previewing the email right now (this is something we were discussing improving), but the current copy can be seen at

https://github.com/mozilla/webmaker-mailroom/blob/master/templates/hive_badge_awarded.html

Albeit in a rather difficult-to-read fashion.

Thanks Erik! Simona: assigning this one to you to update the email copy

* BONUS POINTS METHOD: submit your changes as a pull request on Github
* But if you're more comfortable just pasting a link here to an etherpad instead, that's ok too!

Thanks Erik and Matt. I can definitely try to do it through GitHub, if all else fails I will put everything into an etherpad.
* Still needed? Moving to [oct3] train

* The [oct3] train has now left the station. So please update the whiteboard with [oct17], or whatever train you're now planning to put this on. Thanks!
* Still needed? Or should we wontfix?

* I'm assuming this ticket is now in the icebox. Meaning: no one is actively working in it further, until further notice

* please update if that's wrong
