With AM, you could search the page with Ctrl+F to find the app you want.

Since WebIDE has moved them to a popup menu, it's harder to quickly navigate to the app you want.

Maybe one improvement would be a way to search the app list from the keyboard...? Not sure how discoverable it would be. Maybe some key combo to open the menu, and then you can type from there like a list box...?
Thank you for filing this. If there's a search bar, auto-focusing on the search bar on open, or allowing users to focus on the search bar could also work.
I was thinking… once connected to a runtime, if no project is already selected, we just have this blank white page: http://i.imgur.com/noFfH8b.png

So maybe, instead of nothing, we could just show the list of running apps (maybe displayed into a fake homescreen), with a filter textbox.

Paul, that sounds like a good solution. I'm ok with that option

Yeah, that's an interesting idea. This would cover only the runtime apps though? That sounds a bit too focused on runtime apps if so. Couldn't it cover everything in the project list just as easily?

If you leave out the "show it in a fake homescreen" part, and it's just a list, then it sounds a lot like what Jen purposed in bug 1079347 comment 1 and bug 1079347 comment 4: using the empty space for a list of projects, and then you'd add a filter box to that.

Should happen in bug 1079347.

We don't plan to alter the WebIDE interface at this stage, since it's planned for removal (bug 1314811).
