User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:34.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/34.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20140804060850 Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to the https://addons.mozilla.org 2. clicked on "search for add-ons" text field 3. Try to enter a really long string (When I say really long string it is really really big string) Actual results: 4. When I try to search the string the page says "Problem loading page Connection Reset" but my connection is perfect and it is a more then average connection type of 9.8Mbps Expected results: It should truncated the string
I got the "414 Request-URI Too Large" error page from nginx using a 12kb query string. I got the "Connection Reset" error when send a 1300kb query string. I think this is an appropriate expression to response the errors (says 414) and avoid DDOS attacks (by reset).

I am still getting the connection reset problem with 6kb string! but working fine with 5kb string.

There isn't a use case for this - searching for anything that big is just abusing the system. An error response is entirely appropriate. -> wontfix
