1060753 - Fxos simulator 1.3 not working though addon is installed in firefox version 31.

Steps to reproduce:

Installed addon from https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/labs/fxos-simulator/
Tried to run from app manager. 



Actual results:

Simulator did not start, rather saying 'No simulator installed' and showing a button 'Install simulator'


Expected results:

Simulator should start.

Please include more details, such as:

What exact build of the Simulator add-on do you have (as shown in the Add-on Manager)?
What Linux distro are you using?
After following the verbose logging steps[1], what messages do you see?

Add-on build: 7.0pre9.20140401
Linux distro: Ubuntu 12.04

Can't enable verbose logging because,
"[e-mail] for Firefox OS 1.3" is not found in about:config

You have to first create the pref yourself in about:config (Right-Click -> New).

Created the pref, but output in console is not showing anything new than previous:

Use of getPreventDefault() is deprecated.  Use defaultPrevented instead. about:startpage

I tried the same Firefox version 31) with the same addon (last 1.3) and it also works fine.
I don't know what to suggest next.

Would you happen to have any particular preference/settings being set in Firefox? Or in your environment?
In the past we discovered that the addon was broken when disabling firefox history...
we may have something similar with some other pref.

Otherwise... I'm wondering if:
- it works when installing the simulator in an empty profile?
(mkdir temp && firefox -profile temp)
- other simulator addons work (2.1 for ex)?

Are you able to start the 1.3 simulator from WebIDE[1] instead of the App Manager?
