Currently https://chat.meatspac.es generates data URIs for webm files with a max limit of 20 video files before we auto remove them from the DOM. I've included two attachments: 1. The test file. 2. The screenshot of activity monitor (ran in Firefox Nightly and Chrome Canary for the CPU load difference for 7 looping files) Each video is 200x150 with 10 frames that it cycles through.

On my linux, I don't see any abnormal CPU usage. I attached a version of your test that uses blobs instead of dataurl. Tell me if that changes anything. But I guess it won't because it appears to be a platform specific issue (works on linux, not on mac).
