From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.5) Gecko/20011011 BuildID: 2001101117 If the path indicated in the Local Folders account changed since the profile was created, then the Local Folders fails, silently in some cases. That is, it does not let the user save messages to the folders (an unclear error message is given). Additionally, it does not let users create a folder under Local Folders. However, no error message is given. I experienced this problem in relation to mozilla crashing and completely trashing my browser profile. I deleted the profile directory and created a new one. Then I copied my bookmarks and mail and news folders over. However, the new profile was trying to reference the old Local Folders path, and thus I was unable to save messages. I spent 20 minutes trying to create a "Sent" folder to save my messages, but each time it failed silently. I finally realized what it was when I poked around in C:\Document and Settings\<userid> Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Rename the folder pointed to by Local Folders 2. Try to create a folder in Local Folders account. Actual Results: No error message is given. No Local Folders exist, and no new folder is created. Expected Results: Preferred resolution: I expected the folder to be created. However, if Mail+News could not find the Local Folders storage area, then it should prompt me to either select an existing directory to store the folders, OR to create a new one, and then create the folder in there. This would allow people with migrated profiles like mine, or a profile that was somehow corrupted to recover more gracefully. Alternate Resolution: At the very least, an error message should be displayed indicating why the messasge could not be saved in Sent (because the folder was not found), and an error message should be displayed indicating why the new folder could not be created. That would give a clue to the user of what to do.

This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project. This means that it was logged against the old Mozilla suite and we cannot determine that it's still valid for the current SeaMonkey suite. Because of this, we are setting it to an UNCONFIRMED state. If you can confirm that this report still applies to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it back to the NEW state along with a comment on how you reproduced it on what Build ID, or if it's an enhancement request, why it's still worth implementing and in what way. If you can confirm that the report doesn't apply to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it to the appropriate RESOLVED state (WORKSFORME, INVALID, WONTFIX, or similar). If no action happens within the next few months, we move this bug report to an EXPIRED state. Query tag for this change: mass-UNCONFIRM-20090614

MASS-CHANGE: This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but still has no comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project 5 years ago. Because of this, we're resolving the bug as EXPIRED. If you still can reproduce the bug on SeaMonkey 2 or otherwise think it's still valid, please REOPEN it and if it is a platform or toolkit issue, move it to the according component.
