Right now we use ubuntu 14.04 this is not really based on any particular logic aside from ubuntu has official AMIs and we where familiar with it. Long term I want to validate this decision based on the following:

 - startup speed : Measured from startup to when docker-worker is actually running (note this has to be gathered either via the logs or some startup script)

 - stability: I am not sure if cloudinit makes sense for us... We see some small rate of failure and don't use it for anything meaningful. It also probably slows down boot speed.

 - kernel support: We should run a fairly modern kernel

 - docker support: (Obviously

 - base AMI size: Smaller the AMI faster we boot (needs to be measured)

 - HVM Support: Is required
