When I read my newsgroups I miss an option to show all threads, but expand only
the threads/subthreads with new messages.

Obviously, auto-expand of subthreads depends on collapsible subthreads --

We're building a new conversation view and removing the default visualization of subthreading in the message thread pane to improve the UI and avoid situations with infinite indentation.
The new conversation view will have a "thread history" view to enable users to show/hide the full history with the correct indentation, if they want.
