On Mac OS XUL.mfl is called `XUL FastLoad File'.

Why on earth do the same file have different filenames on different platforms.
Take about inconsistency!

To help supporters etc please just the same filenames on all platforms!

It should probably be called `UI Speed Cache' or something.

It works just fine as it is? Why penalize the platforms on which users like to
understand what files are with silly 8.3 filenames?
s/as it is?/as it is./
We dont have any 8.3 platforms! In my profile dir I have "mimeTypes.rdf"
Mac users look in their profiles; Mac filename conventions/guidelines say to use
clear, space-separated noun phrases.

Unix users do not like spaces.

Windows users may not suffer under 8.3 restrictions any longer; dveditz, please
advise.

I'm inclined to WONTFIX.  The FastLoad filename should be transparent to users;
if you find that developers care, tell me the bug that's making them remove the
FastLoad file by hand, if it's not on my list already.

I'd love to see that all of the filenames would be the same on all platforms.
But I really care only about Unix and Windows, so I could share a single
profile on both OS :-)
I don't think you can share the same profile (via NFS or similar) running on
different platforms -- conrad? But if you can, I still doubt that you could
share the same FastLoad file. I believe our chrome has platform-specific parts
that would be incorporated under the same URI on each platform, which would mean
a Windows build would pull the wrong data from the multiplexed stream that a
Unix build wrote in the FastLoad file.

If so, that's a strong reason to WONTFIX this bug.

/be
Right, you can't share them. That's mainly due to native file paths written into
various files. That's something that should be solved though it's involved. When
that is solved and profiles are XP, the name of profile files amongst platforms
would matter. But, at the moment, the filenames are the least of the problem.
i'd be willing to support wontfix based on the fact that i don't think fastload
files are portable.

all the other reasons not to share profiles are bugs and should already be
reported here.
As predicted.
