First Run Changes:

Replace "add on panel" (panel #2) with step about search.

Copy & Art should be discussed and added to this bug.
Tracks changes to first run, see user story for details.
Add-on panel is step 3/4
This is now up on demo5 for testing.

Note: to see the tour people need to white-list demo5 in about:config

1.) Using Firefox 34 Beta, open about:config
2.) create a new preference called "browser.uitour.whitelist.add.testing" (type string)
3.) Set the value to "www-demo5.allizom.org"
4.) Restart the browser an open the URL:

https://www-demo5.allizom.org/en-US/firefox/34.0.5/firstrun/

Latest builds to test are here:

Looking good, Alex.

Yesterday we talked about a couple of tweaks to the search image. Do you know if those are still coming?

Also, here's the latest copy for that step (also updated in the copy deck now):

Introducing a smarter way to search
• Search suggestions appear as you type
• Choose the right site for every search
• Use the star to create bookmarks »

Thanks.

Thanks, Matej

Have updated with the copy here. I haven't received an updated search image yet, but is quick and easy to swap out if/when we do.
CC'ing flod so he is aware:

Flod, this change will update the current /firstrun tour and swaps out the add-ons step with a step about search.

This is due to go out on Dec 1 and for en-US only, however I have used an l10n tag here so other locales can get the new step once translated. Conditional check I have used is: l10n_has_tag('firstrun_search')

Branch is here: https://github.com/mozilla/bedrock/tree/yahoo-search-tours

Note: currently the image that accompanies this step includes some English strings, but we may swap this out for something more appropriate post Dec 1.
OK. I don't expect to see this in something different than en-US, but it's useful to have just in case.

To be clear, the /firstrun step talks about the new search feature in general, and is not tied to anything re: Yahoo. So it is something probably applicable to all locales.
That's confusing then. Are we planning to show /firstrun for all locales on 34?
Now it's definitely too late for l10n, so we'd end up not showing the search part anyway.
/firstrun gets shown be default for all locales, hence the l10n tag.

We only got 4 days notice for this, so I'm afraid l10n was already out the window before we begun :(
Just had a discussion with Flod on IRC and he informs me that the new Search UI will not be localized ontil Firefox 36: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1103190

Therefore, we don't need to include an l10n tag here and can just show the template to en-US locale (other locales can get the existing tour).

I'll update the branch to follow this logic.

I still see "Experience" instead of "Introducing" in the header for the search step of the tour. Could you update that as well?

Using RC1 I verified the copy tour changes on /firstrun, demo5. Everything looks good. I focused on the changes for steps 2 & 3 of the tour, and used this copy deck for reference:
