STR:
 1. Open Firefox Hello menu.
 2. Click the cog (gear) icon to open the submenu.
 3. Click the "Help" submenu entry.

EXPECTED RESULTS:
I should be taken to a page that helps me to send invitations from Firefox Hello (and perhaps more general information).

ACTUAL RESULTS: I end up at a page that tells me how to *respond* to a Hello invitation. ("Respond to a Firefox Hello invitation in Guest Mode")

(NOTE: I end up at the "Respond" page via a redirect from a page titled "Start or join group conversations on Firefox Hello WebRTC". That intermediate page seems like a more appropriate topic for us to be linking to from the menu, but unfortunately it only exists as a redirect. The redirect was set up for bug 1106980, for a different "help" link with the same target-URL; it makes sense for the usage described in that bug [where someone is responding to a hello call], but not for the usage described in this bug.)
This page seems like perhaps a much better place to send users from the Hello menu:
 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-hello-make-receive-calls-without-account

That page actually tells you how to use the hello button on the browser UI (which is what users are interacting with when they click "help" in this submenu). e.g. "Click on the Hello button [on the browser toolbar]", "Click the Email button", "Click the Copy button")

Joni -- Can you help with this? Can the support link take users to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-hello-make-receive-calls-without-account as Daniel suggests?

I'm not sure that's quite what we want to do.

The support link that we jump to (group-conversations-firefox-hello-webrtc) is linked from two different places:
 (1) the hello menu's cog submenu
 (2) the question-mark icon on https://hello.firefox.com/[random-string] call pages

For case (1), the firefox-hello-make-receive-calls-without-account page seems appropriate. (It tells you how to use the menu/submenu. But that's not appropriate for case (2) -- there, the current redirect (respond-firefox-hello-invitation-guest-mode) seems like the right content to be showing.

So, I was suggesting that we make (1) and (2) use *different links* -- not that we just change their currently-shared landing page to redirect somewhere else.

Ah, I believe I understand Daniel's point now. (I'm still jetlagged.)

Hi Joni -- So here are the changes we'd need to make

(1) The gears menu (on desktop) would redirect group-conversations-firefox-hello-webrtc to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-hello-make-receive-calls-without-account (no desktop code change needed).

(2) The help button on the standalone would go https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/respond-firefox-hello-invitation-guest-mode?redirectlocale=en-US (My team could update the standalone code to go here directly -- or to any URL you specify which could redirect to this URL for now.)

What do you think? I like this idea. If you agree, can you make the redirect change for desktop (see (1) above) and tell me which URL you want the standalone (link clicker) side to point to (see (2) above)?

Hi, Marie and Daniel.

These changes sound good to me.

1) I've changed the group-conversations redirect to https://support.mozilla.org/kb/firefox-hello-make-receive-calls-without-account.

2)Please use the direct URL for this one: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/respond-firefox-hello-invitation-guest-mode. This article works for both link clicker recipients and the Rooms UI (the article will detect the user's version of Firefox and display the appropriate content.)

Thanks!
Joni

Thanks, Joni and Daniel. I filed Bug 1109325 to update the standalone URL. We roll out a new standalone app next week, and the help link in that update should point the new URL.
will be fixed in next stand-alone - should be there now or soon.
