Steps to reproduce:

Sent test messages using different email clients and these were received without [SPAM] addedto yhe Subject line.

See attached file.
This would not have been done by Thunderbird. 

YOu can do View | Message Source (or ctrl+U) to look at the messages headers and probably get some idea about what caused this.

Problem solved.
AVG Internet Security 2015.0.5646 Anti-Spam Version 7.0.1 was flagging e-mails from my
e-mail account as SPAM.  See below:

I don't know why they are rated as 91.  AVG maximum is 90.
I have disabled AVG SPAM checking.
