Let's release a 3.0 simulator.
I think we need this already, unless I'm doing something wrong. I tried to use gaia master with the 2.2 simulator and after a simple "make" I got stuck at the boot screen:

TypeError: content.document.body is null BrowserElementChildPreload.js:75:522
TypeError: window.performance.mark is not a function application.js:15:2
TypeError: window.performance.mark is not a function app.js:12:4
ReferenceError: app is not defined statusbar.js:77:10
TypeError: navigator.mozApps.getAdditionalLanguages is not a function language_list.js:114:6
TypeError: window.performance.mark is not a function init_logo_handler.js:224:6
Mulet loads the homescreen just fine, but I get the following error when I open the messaging app:

17:45:54.750 TypeError: this._mozMobileMessage is undefined1 message_manager.js:21:4

If only it weren't the app I wanted to debug :/
I would like to wait for bug 1142080 to land before releasing 3.0 build as orientation is currently broken.
Panos, regarding gaia apps, if apps don't work against b2g desktop or simulator nightly,
I would suggest reaching app developers. Some apps don't have good desktop support as they only care about device support :( I had to submit gaia patches against some apps to make them work on desktop...
The important point is having a gecko version similar to gaia version you are using as there is known compatiblity breakages between gecko and gaia!
I don't mind the extra wait as I've found that manually installing a 3.0 simulator from the following location let's me debug against gaia master:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/b2g/nightly/latest-mozilla-central/
Done!
3.0 builds should appear soon in WebIDE interface...
As we cache the request for available simulator builds it will depend on the HTTP cache to request a new version again.

If you want it NOW, browse https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/labs/fxos-simulator/index.json
force reload with CTRL+MAJ+R, reboot firefox.
