www.nhs.uk serves desktop site.
Works in Opera.
I've checked the website in all the browsers on my Galaxy Note 2, with the following results:

* Firefox - Desktop site
* Firefox Beta - Desktop site
* Chrome - Mobile site
* Opera - Mobile site
* Opera Mini - Mobile site
* Dolphin Browser - Mobile site
* Stock Browser - Mobile site
Component: General → Mobile
Product: Firefox → Tech Evangelism
Version: 39 Branch → Firefox 39
Hi Thanks for the bug report.

What ever the following user agents

* Firefox Android 'User-Agent:Mozilla/5.0 (Android 4.4.4; Mobile; rv:44.0) Gecko/44.0 Firefox/44.0'
* Firefox MacOSX  'User-Agent:Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.11; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0'

requesting http://www.nhs.uk/
    -> 302 http://www.nhs.uk/Pages/HomePage.aspx
    -> 301 http://www.nhs.uk/pages/home.aspx
    -> 200 Content-Length: 16640

The home page has a responsive design. And it is working well on Mobile devices.
They propose a link to the desktop site, which in fact is setting a cooking for nhs.uk (not www.nhk.uk), about the choice and removed the responsiveness of the site.

mobile.display  false.

The only way to go back to the mobile site is by erasing that cookie.

I'm closing as WORKSFORME. It is working the same in every browser.

If you think that's a UX mistake you should contact them directly at
