The 'sign in' area in the tab tray feels a little over-bearing and pushy (and weirdly placed, considering it's in the tab tray!), as well as non-descriptive. Is this a placeholder for promoting a flow into Firefox Accounts / sync ? Wanting to put this on the table for discussion.

This was meant as a way to promote the Sign In flow, as well as provide some continuity when the user's email/avatar shows up there. I'm happy to remove it if there is consensus, but fear that absent an on-boarding experience or tour many people will altogether fail to discover the Sign In possibility. Thoughts?

Thanks for the reminder: I think we should have a minimal on-boarding experience!

@darrin, I noticed in the gif posted in bug 1141572 there's an account picture, maybe a stock silhouette account picture (pre-sign in) and a slight rewording might help. I think it's a good discoverable area.

IMO we should remove this altogether until Sync and/or RL is implemented, landed, and we're confident that it works.
