Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:37.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/37.0
Build ID: 20150402191859

Steps to reproduce:

I clicked on the Firefox 37.0.1 icon in the taskbar

Actual results:

The browser opens momentarily and then crashes. I am then given the option to start in Safemode. On following this option, the browser opens correctly in Safemode.

Expected results:

The browser should open normally and stay open
This got so bad & utterly irritating that I installed a previous version of Firefox.
How can you release a version that clearly doesn't work properly.
I am a software developer, and I would never dare do this.
Before this, Firefox was such a great browser.
Why have you not tried to resolve this bug.

You say that you have fixed this issue, in the notes from your 37.0.1 release:

"Resolved: Start-up crash due to graphics hardware and third party software"

WRONG. THIS HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. PLEASE SEE ABOVE.
IS ANYONE READING THIS? RESPONSE PLEASE. EVEN IF IT IS JUST TO TELL ME THAT YOU ARE ALIVE?????????

Brilliant idea to have a bug logging system, ONLY, if you act upon the comments! And at least reply to each response.
This crash was solved by opening Firefox in Safemode [shift double click Firefox desktop shortcut], and disabling options -> advanced -> general -> Use hardware acceleration when available

Just to let you know, I am using Windows 7 Premium Home edition with NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M.

I realised that it was Graphics card issue because the crash report mentioned nvwgf2um.dll

Please could you disable options -> advanced -> general -> Use hardware acceleration when available, by default. This would solve many crash issues, for users that are not technically minded like myself.
Hi Charles,

Can you please try to reproduce this on the latest release(43.0.1) and latest Nightly(46.0a1) and provide the results? When doing this, you can create a new clean Firefox profile, as some of this issues may be caused by custom settings.

Thanks,
