www.mozilla.org offers a powerful search feature, which finds content across all (or most of) the mozilla web properties. Super!

However, there is no easy way to add that search as a "search engine".

For example, if you go to https://wiki.mozilla.org/ you will notice a green "+" imposed atop the search magnifying glass. Clicking that gives one the option to install a focused search on wiki.m.o as a search option.

Note that you can add the search as a bookmark, but the user experience of going there is not as nice as with the "search engine" feature.
Hi Hal-

Thanks for filing. I think this is actually a Firefox product bug vs a www.mozilla.org bug since the green + you are seeing is in the Firefox browser product.

Feel free to ping me if you have any additional questions.

Thx,
Jen

This needs to be implemented by each page that wants to offer this functionality. We use the OpenSearch standard for this. Documentation on what the site would need to do is at https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/Creating_OpenSearch_plugins_for_Firefox#Autodiscovery_of_search_plugins

We have removed the old Tabzilla navigation and the search bar is gone. (I'm personally against it though.) Resolving this as WONTFIX accordingly.
