I think this is a UX fix rather than a localization issue.
yup, I agree with Inma.
Moving over to FirefoxOS component. This is clearly a regression as you used the same string in 2.2 as in 2.1 and there was no issue there: https://transvision.mozfr.org/?recherche=earch+or+enter+address&repo=gaia_2_1&sourcelocale=en-US&locale=es&search_type=strings
Spanish is a shipping locale, and I assume this is going to affect other locales. Thus nominating

IIRC, I think that the "mask" image was added to the left of the url bar in 2.2. So this isn't a regression per say, I would say.
Taking out the keyword while waiting for the screenshots for confirmation...

Nominating for general triage decision since this affects multiple shipping locales (and there's not much one can do to shorten this string)
Seems like we need UX help here. What should we do in this case?

Flagging Amy. Again, some truncation is acceptable. The problem is if a term is so truncated that it no longer makes sense. Let us know if that's the case here.

Hi, before we make any changes Stephany asks a good question. Are the truncations acceptable and understandable where they are being cut off? Also, is there any way to reduce the strings?

If the answer is no for the above questions I'll explore a few options (most likely reducing the font size, but only for locales that need it).

As a native Spanish speaker, I can say they're understandable.
Flagging all remaining localizers so they can say if the truncation is acceptable in their language (or if they can shorten the string), or if we need to get a fix for this.

(that said, this is affecting already 4 shipping locales. Probably means many more out of our 90 available locales are affected as well. And this isn't an easy string to shorten)
On the pt-PT locale what the user will read is something like: "Search or ente...". I think that the user won't to be able the infer that he or she must enter an address.

Maybe we can change the text to something like "Search or browse", which in Portuguese will be something like "Pesquisar ou navegar". Just an idea.
Flags: needinfo?(cesperanc)
Anyone that has ever used a modern browser will be able to figure out what the bar is there for. However, our target audience may not fit that scenario. I think that changing the string to something shorter is hardly possible without changing its meaning. I do Like what :cesperanc@ suggested.

If we're not going with that, I would say we need an UI change.
Flags: needinfo?(mv.nsaad)
According to this we already updated the string https://transvision.mozfr.org/?recherche=Search+or+enter+address&repo=gaia&sourcelocale=en-US&locale=bn-IN&search_type=strings .

But as I have seen it has not been updated in flame 2.2 and 2.1.

Please let me know if I am wrong at any point.
