To prevent every ES data node from needing to create and format filesystems from EBS volumes on our nodes, we should create an AMI. It should be: * vanilla with yum update run on it * m3.xlarge * have IOPS based on our recs (General use IOPS SSD ~1000-1200? More with Provisioned IOPS?) * have an appropriate filesystem created and mounted by default (ext4? based on ES recs)

To be clear, I didn't create any special AMI for ES - we're currently using the Base AMI for this role. The system-level details (IOPS, FS, Instance vs. ELB, etc) still have to be hashed out. Re-opening.

Turns out that we're not going to use a purpose-built AMI for this.
